IQ2: Institute for Quantitative and Qualitative Research

IQ2:  Institute for Quantitative and Qualitative Research

Now in development, the Institute for Quantitative and Qualitative Research in the Social Sciences (IQ2) will

  • Enable quantitative research that exploits a variety of secondary and administrative data sources, some of which must be held in secure facilities.
  • Enable qualitative research that requires space for meeting with participants or that uses computer-based coding and data analysis and/or expertise in pattern detection and visualization.
  • Be an institutionally supported and staffed multi-method infrastructure housed in the new Wilson Building and shared by faculty from different departments.

Building the new IQ2 involves two key parts: (a) creating the infrastructure for an empirical research facility; and (b) developing a set of affiliated, theme-based research programs to support interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange among social science researchers.
